Genuine Aboriginal Art by Jordana

ARTIST PROFILE

My name is Jordana Angus. I am 30 and am a proud Wiradjuri woman. My traditional land is Narrandera, inland N.S.W. However I was born and raised in Redcliffe, Qld. My connection is here to the land and the sea.

I am currently studying a Bachelor of Contemporary Australian Indigenous Art in Brisbane. I hope this will further my artistic ability by experimenting and introducing new techniques and mediums into my work.

With the artwork I create, a very innovative approach is applied by using objects in nature that would usually be overlooked or discarded. By recycling them in my work, I feel I can help others see the beauty in nature that I see. For example, some of my favourite objects to use are pieces of driftwood that look like certain animals or other objects to me.

I take great pride in the diversity and quality of my work and each art piece is personally hand painted or created and most are one off pieces which have not been reproduced. Because the work is all done by myself I can guarantee to customers that they are receiving not just a genuine work, but also competitively priced work.

Finally I also offer (blue card accredited) teaching workshops and private lessons at an affordable price or can produce pieces of work by commission as well as the sale of pre-painted pieces.

Most of the artwork I do is very contemporary using bright and (often) feminine colours. However, the artwork still depicts traditional Aboriginal culture and stories.
